Focussing

Reading back over previous posts, I see something of the patterns in my creative process. Big highs - of "I'm going to do this and that" - followed by...well, followed by nothing.

So it's time to actually commit to the business of making this "bad" movie, rather than expecting everything to fall into place.

What I really have to do now is focus on the writing of the screenplay as I do the other projects, such as the documentaries and so forth. I really have to get something written and made. Just something small - baby steps - but well written, if possible, or badly written if that's all I can muster. It's better, I think, to be in some kind of creative loop than to be stuck.

And so that means setting some time aside daily to writing the screenplay, and staying focussed on it.

The other option, of course, is to do the improvised film that I've been thinking about for a long time. The "improvised/devised" idea, that Mike Leigh has used so effectively.

Or do it both ways: something scripted, and something improvised.
