I removed "Hypnotherapist" from my website today.
Why? Because it's bollocks, and I've known all along it's bollocks. And that's why I was never successful with it - because I didn't believe in it. The course did make sense on a lot of levels - in as much that it contained elements of traditional cognitive therapy - but hypnosis and hypnotism rely on an individual's weak frame of mind, and basic irrationality. All hypnosis does is play on weaknesses of thinking, rather than actually strengthen them. And, to add to it, the people who "taught" hypnosis and hypnotherapy in Santa Fe believed in "God". And that just shows how daft they were.
All the while I was there, I thought something was wrong with the course. I didn't want to be a hypnotherapist at all. I wouldn't have minded being a therapist (in as much as you share some common sense, and get to see what makes others tick) but it's actually nothing more than common sense dressed as something special, with a reliance on wobbly thinking.
So what's that got to do with my making a movie, you may ask?
Well, it kinda dawned on me that when one's thinking is woolly, then so is one's creative output. When I know what I know about reality, I'm clear about a lot more things.
Watching Penn and Teller just now, I'm a little clearer about that. And so I'm not associating with nonsense, and am back to believing in myself as an artist, actor, writer and whatever else I do.
I do value "drifting off the path", though. It's helped me know what Truth is when I see and hear it. Sometimes you have to be off track to know where the track is, as it were...
And this means I can apply this new stuff to all my art - not just my films.
One should not fear The Truth, even if it seems to lead to a dead end. The truth, even though it may be painful, is ALWAYS liberating.

In today’s ever increasing socioeconomic stressful environment emphasis should be focused on the advantages of Medical hypnosis. It is important to understand that one is not treated with hypnosis but rather through hypnosis. Choosing the right Hypnotherapist is therefore very important. One-on-one sessions are most desirable in correcting conditioned habitual responses, as each patient has different and sometime multiple past and present sensitizing events.
Unlike cognitive therapy or prescription medications which concentrate on the "effects", Medical hypnosis works in an older part of our brain to assault the "causality" of the problem by redirecting or even eliminating negative habits, emotions, or perceptions. As increased scientific study confirms the value of medical hypnosis; myths, half-truths, and suspicions surrounding hypnotherapy will be diminished and we can help change our stressful society without harsh and often dangerous prescription medications.
