Lordy, Lordy, Lord! Hallelujah!

I was just going through an old diary, and looking at what I'd intended to do about writing, and I found lists of people I was going to write about.

And that's it! I've been so fucking introspective the past years I've forgotten all about just being interested in others. Rather than seeing people as allies or enemies or indifferent bods in my life, as a writer it's my duty to get to know people, study them, understand them - no matter who they are or what they do - and use them as characters in my writings and films.

So from this moment on I choose to get to know people for who they are. And then write character studies about them.

I talked to some crazy woman in New York a few years ago who said she was a character in a David Mamet play. She recognised herself (and knew Mamet)

The perfect source! And no more boring introspective wankery on my part!
